Argentinians, the most concerned about waste in tourist destinations

Perhaps as a surprise to many, Argentinians top the ranking of citizens most concerned about waste in tourist places.

They are happy to receive both local and international travelers due to the positive impact it generates in the community (34%). However, the issue of waste and its disposal is very present among them.

This was determined by a recent research conducted by the specialized site in reservations and accommodations Booking.com. Here are the most relevant data.

Booking.com, a platform for accommodation reservations, car rentals, and attractions, published the tenth edition of its annual research on people’s attitudes and intentions regarding the social and ecological impact of travel.

With data from 32,000 travelers in 34 countries, including 1000 from Argentina, the research concludes that, for the first time, over half of Argentine travelers (53%) are now aware of the impact of travel on communities and the environment.

Additionally, 67% want to leave places better than when they arrived. “The generation of waste by tourism is a significant global challenge, especially in the most visited destinations,” said Jimena Gutiérrez, General Manager of Booking.com for Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.

“In line with this, we see that tourists are increasingly concerned about sustainability, which also challenges the sector and contributes to finding comprehensive solutions,” she added.
