Missions continues to consolidate its ecotourism model, with the recent creation of two new Birdwatchers Clubs (COA).
The newly established groups are:
- COA Colonia Chapá, with presence in the municipalities of Alberdi and Alvear.
- COA Alilicucú, located in the Enchanted Valley region, covering Aristóbulo del Valle and Salto Encantado.
These new clubs join the already existing ones:
- COA Surucuá, in Eldorado.
- COA Tangará, in Posadas.
With these additions, Missions now has four active COAs, promoting conservation and responsible birdwatching in different regions.
Legalization and strengthening of ecotourism in Misiones
The official creation of the new COAs was carried out with the support of Juan José Bonanno, Director of Institutional Development at Aves Argentinas, who participated in the national-level legalization process.
This strengthening is complemented by:
- Field trips for responsible observation.
- Awareness-raising sessions on local biodiversity.
- Public policies focused on preserving natural areas.
The key role of birdwatchers clubs
The COAs have a significant impact on environmental conservation, as they work on:
- Protection of key ecosystems for birds.
- Promotion of species observation with a scientific and educational focus.
- Influence on conservation regulations and policies.
- Prevention of illegal wildlife trafficking.
The Misiones Bird Route and its impact
The creation of the new COAs is part of the development of the Misiones Bird Route (RAM), a program by the Ministry of Tourism that aims to consolidate birdwatching as a pillar of provincial ecotourism.
This approach allows:
- Generating environmental and educational awareness in the population.
- Boosting the local economy through sustainable tourism.
- Engaging communities in the conservation of their natural environment.
An ecotourism model with future projection
Misiones has positioned itself as a reference in conservation and sustainable tourism, promoting synergy between biodiversity protection and local economic development.
With the expansion of the network of Birdwatchers Clubs, the province reinforces its commitment to the preservation of species and habitats within a framework of responsible development.
