Perito Moreno emerges as a comprehensive tourist destination and boosts the entire northwest region of Santa Cruz.

The town of **Perito Moreno**, known worldwide for the **Cave of the Hands**, is going through a stage of sustained growth that aims to diversify its offer and establish itself as a **strategic center for Patagonian tourism**. This was confirmed by the **Tourism Director, Marcos Huenuman**, when taking stock of a season marked by **high participation and improvements in key infrastructure**.

_”It was a positive season for us, especially considering that it is our first stage in management,”_ highlighted Huenuman. Although the numbers may fluctuate due to the national context, the concrete advances **support a projection of sustainable growth**.

New works and events for a more complete experience

Among the improvements that directly impacted visitors are:
– **Expansion and renovation of the tourism office**, long-awaited.
– **Opening of an information center at the southern access via Route 40**.
– **Reopening of the municipal campground**, chosen by tourists in events such as the **Astronomical Eclipse Festival**, held in October with a large attendance.

_”This is part of a chain that starts with beautifying and providing quality services. People notice it, recommend it, and stay longer,”_ said the official.

Accessibility and connectivity: keys to growth

According to municipal statistics, the majority of visitors **arrive in private vehicles**, although the arrival of **contingents of elderly adults by agencies** is increasing.

In addition, the airport – located just 7 kilometers from the center – operates **two weekly frequencies of LADE**, with connections to **Comodoro Rivadavia, El Calafate, Río Gallegos, and Ushuaia**, expanding possibilities for those who choose to fly.

Cave of the Hands: the tourist beacon that attracts visitors all year round

The archaeological site **Cave of the Hands**, a World Heritage Site, continues to be the local promotion engine, with **guided tours available in all seasons**. _”It is our emblem. But what we want is for the traveler to stay longer,”_ explained Huenuman.

From Perito, you can also access **Los Antiguos, Lago Posadas** and a variety of intermediate sites with natural, cultural, and **new adventure experiences**, such as climbing circuits inaugurated in the summer in **Parque Patagonia**.

Tourism with a local perspective: strengthening from within to project outwards

The new stage also includes a **participatory strategy**, with training workshops in **touristic hosting** that aim to **involve local residents as destination promoters**.

_”We want tourism to be seen as a real economic opportunity. We are showing that Perito Moreno is not just a destination, but a gateway to the entire region,”_ emphasized the director.

With the end of the high season, the municipality is already working on **internal training, updating information, and coordination with National Parks**. It is also preparing to participate in **regional fairs** such as the one in **Comodoro Rivadavia**, with the goal of **continuing to promote its proposals during the low season**.

Perito Moreno: a destination that bets on sustainable growth and local roots

Perito Moreno makes it clear that there is **much more to explore beyond its most iconic site**. With a strategy focused on **infrastructure, visitor care, and local identity**, the town is moving towards a **comprehensive and connected offer**, ideal for those seeking to discover Patagonia in depth.
