Rawson promotes tire recycling with a campaign that encourages circular economy and citizen participation

In the framework of the World Environment Day, the city of Rawson, Chubut, will launch a new edition of the “Ruedatón 2026”, an initiative aimed at promoting the proper disposal of used tires and strengthening environmental awareness in the community.

The proposal will take place on June 5 at the La Superiora Cultural and Sports Complex, where residents can bring used tires to be incorporated into recycling and reuse circuits.

In this way, the municipality seeks to reduce the accumulation of this type of waste in vacant lots, canals, and public spaces, places where they often become sources of pollution and pose risks to health and the environment.

Circular economy and responsible waste management

Discarded tires represent one of the most complex waste to manage due to their slow degradation and the volume they occupy when abandoned without control.

Therefore, the campaign aims to recover these materials so they receive adequate treatments through specialized industrial processes that allow to extend their useful life and reduce the pressure on natural resources.

Additionally, the initiative is part of a circular economy strategy that seeks to transform waste into new resources, preventing them from accumulating in landfills or affecting urban and peri-urban ecosystems.

Through the Department of Public Works and Services, the municipality continues to promote actions that link environmental management with active community participation, strengthening sustainable habits in the long term.

Incentives to encourage citizen commitment

As part of the campaign, participants who deliver four or more used tires can enter a raffle for 30 vouchers with discounts on alignment and balancing services.

The proposal seeks to recognize the commitment of those who collaborate with the reduction of waste and at the same time encourage greater neighborhood participation in actions related to environmental care.

Furthermore, the event will provide the population with concrete tools to properly manage waste that, in many cases, end up abandoned in open spaces causing negative impacts on the environment.

The joint work between neighbors, public agencies, and private companies appears as one of the keys to advancing towards more sustainable and resilient urban models.

What are the advantages of tire recycling?

The collection and recycling of used tires generates multiple environmental benefits. Firstly, it prevents the formation of micro-dumps that deteriorate the landscape and affect the quality of urban ecosystems.

On the other hand, it reduces the proliferation of mosquitoes and other health vectors that often find in abandoned tires ideal spaces to reproduce, especially during rainy periods.

Likewise, recycling allows for the recovery of materials that can be used in the manufacture of modified asphalts, sports floors, insulators, and other products, reducing the need to extract new raw materials.

Moreover, proper management helps prevent fires in clandestine tire deposits, situations that can release pollutants into the air, soil, and nearby watercourses.

A joint effort for a more sustainable city

The “Ruedatón 2026” is supported by Pehuen Neumáticos, Indram Tecnología Limpia, and Eco-Lución, companies that collaborate in the responsible treatment of these wastes.

Thanks to this collaboration between the public and private sectors, Rawson strengthens its environmental policies aimed at waste reduction and the valorization of recyclable materials.

Finally, the campaign seeks to consolidate an environmental culture based on shared responsibility, where each individual action contributes to building a cleaner, healthier city committed to the protection of natural resources.
