The Municipality of Rosario, through the Secretariat of Environment and Public Space, collected over 21,000 kilograms of electronic waste during the year 2024.

This material was delivered by a total of 1,256 people throughout the 24 collection days held on the last Fridays and Saturdays of each month.

Upcoming collection days in 2025

It is worth noting that the first electronic waste collection days in 2025 will take place on Friday, January 24 in the municipal district centers, and on Saturday, January 25 at the Waste Management Department (Montevideo 2852), from 10 am to 4 pm.

Electronic waste includes obsolete devices such as CPUs, laptops, keyboards, monitors, mice, speakers, printers, cables, routers, among others.

Destination and treatment of electronic waste

These items receive proper destination and differentiated treatment: cooperative ventures that work in coordination with the municipality and are responsible for reusing and valorizing them.

There, the materials are disassembled and classified for subsequent reuse, recycling, and reintegration into the market. Elements with potentially hazardous components that cannot be recovered are disposed of in designated sites.

The objective of this activity is to reduce the amount of urban waste, promoting correct final disposal, as these elements pose a potential environmental risk. Therefore, it is essential that they receive an appropriate destination and differentiated treatment.
