On March 29th, the Ramsar Site located in Lagunas de Guanacache, Desaguadero, and del Bebedero in San Luis will be the setting for a day dedicated to hiking, art, and environmental knowledge exchange.

The hiking event is organized by the international group Bitácora de Aguas, with the collaboration of Cuerpos en Red. This activity invites the community to reflect on the importance of the Desaguadero River and its natural surroundings.

Scheduled Activities

The day will start at 4:00 PM at the Desaguadero Arch, the emblematic point that connects the provinces of San Luis and Mendoza. From there, attendees will be taken to the Ramsar Site in the Lagunas de Guanacache, Desaguadero, and del Bebedero Natural Protected Area to participate in activities that include photography and landscape recording, along with talks about local ecosystems.

Organizers recommend bringing water, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat to fully enjoy the experience.

Silvina Liz Spagnotto, a researcher from CONICET and part of Cuerpos de Agua en Red, highlighted that environmental topics will be addressed from biological, geological, and archaeological perspectives. According to Spagnotto, this meeting aims to highlight these natural spaces, which are essential for ecosystems and the community.

Promoting a Connection with Water Bodies

Bitácora de Aguas, with a trajectory of over a decade, promotes the reconnection with water bodies and the exploration of new ways to interact with them. Through “sensitive cartographies,” the organization works to record and map the reality of waters from critical, sensitive, and experimental perspectives.

The purpose of these encounters is to inspire dialogues and practices that strengthen the situated care of water bodies. These activities invite us to rethink our relationship with them, promoting sustainability and respect for natural resources.
