Bariloche removes 500 tons of waste through a free container campaign

Since March, the municipality of Bariloche has implemented a campaign of free containers, managing to collect 500 tons of waste.

The initiative marks a difference from the previous management, where the rental of dumpsters had a cost for residents. Now, the focus is to eliminate micro-dumps and improve urban cleanliness.

How does the free collection work?

The program is being carried out in all municipal delegations, with an initial distribution of 40 to 60 free containers per area.

Currently, the approach is neighborhood-based, advancing block by block. The first stage began in Lago Moreno and continues at the Central Delegation, including the Anasagasti neighborhood.

Pamela Inostroza, Deputy Secretary of General Services, highlighted the high demand: “People are waiting for the arrival of the containers. In some neighborhoods, up to two have been placed per block”.

The most common waste includes appliances, tires, and metal sheets, reflecting the need for an accessible service for bulky waste disposal.

Benefited neighborhoods and locations with free containers

The campaign is already active in Anasagasti, San Ceferino, Santo Cristo, Las Quintas, Sara María Furman, Arrayanes, 2 de Abril, and Eva Perón.

The municipality has published the locations where residents can deposit waste:

  • Ruiz Moreno and Tiscornia
  • Sarmiento and Albarracín
  • Rivadavia and Fagnano
  • Sáenz Peña and Anasagasti
  • Fagnano and 9 de Julio

Environmental impact and citizen commitment

The program’s goal is to promote a cleaner city, reducing pollution sources and promoting caring for public spaces.

The municipality reminds residents that they should not deposit forestry waste, as unwanted items are separated at the landfill.

An initiative with positive results

The program is in its initial phase, but the initial results are encouraging.

“The containers are very full and we have managed to rotate in numerous neighborhoods”, stated Inostroza, highlighting that the campaign will continue to expand to cover more areas of Bariloche.
