After the passing of Manuel Martí on June 19, PETA Latino will dedicate a leaf on its Tree of Life monument, located at PETA’s headquarters in Virginia (USA), to honor the memory of the pioneering animal advocate and founder of the Unión Vegana Argentina, the country’s first organization created exclusively to promote veganism and defend animals.
Additionally, he created and organized the VeganFest Argentina and the Buenos Aires Vegan Fest, where PETA Latino participated with informational modules, denounced the cruelty of the leather industry, and featured a videoconference participation by PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk.
“Manuel Martí turned his commitment to the vegan lifestyle into a powerful movement that transformed lives in Argentina and throughout Latin America,” says PETA Latino director Alicia Aguayo. “PETA Latino honors Manuel’s extraordinary legacy and invites the public to follow his example of compassion by going vegan to help prevent animals from continuing to suffer.”
PETA’s Tree of Life memorial is dedicated to individuals of all species whose lives and actions left a positive mark on the world.
PETA Latino, whose motto says, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear,” points out that Every animal is someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in compassion. For more information, visit PETALatino.com or follow PETA Latino on X, Facebook or Instagram.
