Romina, an entrepreneur from Neuquén, created a brand for a market that is slowly becoming a trend. She discovered the product during a trip and launched her own idea of natural pet food.

It all started when she tried changing the food to treat an issue with her dog Luba. The improvement in her health led her to embrace this chemical-free and unprocessed diet.

“I first learned about natural feeding in 2019 in New York, at a pet shop specializing in meals, and I spent a good amount of time chatting with the owner about the benefits of that diet,” said the creator of Elle to LM Neuquén.

Natural pet food: the rising trend

Although the idea had piqued her curiosity, it wasn’t until the following year that she decided to put it into practice at home. Thus, her first diner was Luba, her nearly 8-year-old boxer dog.

“Due to Luba’s multiple health issues, especially skin allergies and food intolerance, I got in touch with a veterinary nutrition specialist, and that’s where our journey began,” she said.

“Not only did my dog’s skin and coat improve radically, but her relationship with food also completely changed,” she recounted.

“From that moment on, I understood the difference between ‘feeding’ and ‘nourishing’. I continued to educate myself on the subject, studying digestive physiology of carnivores, taking courses, seminars, and started sharing what I was learning with my group of friends,” added Romina.

“Until one day an acquaintance asked me to prepare meals for her dachshund, and that’s where the idea for this venture emerged,” she said.

With that leap, she later created “Elle,” her healthy food venture for dogs and cats. But she not only sells food, she also provides guidance for pet owners.

The advantages of natural feeding

Natural dog food is based on fresh, unprocessed ingredients, eliminating artificial additives, colorants, and preservatives found in many commercial options.

The goal is to provide a balanced and complete diet, similar to what dogs could find in nature. Common ingredients include lean meat, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

This type of feeding results in significant benefits for canine health. For example, as highlighted by specialists:

  • Improved digestive health: natural food for dogs is usually easier to digest, as it does not contain by-products and uses fresh and natural ingredients. This can lead to better nutrient absorption and fewer gastrointestinal issues.
  • More energy and vitality: the quality of the ingredients used in natural food often provides a sustainable energy source. Dogs consuming this type of diet often exhibit more consistent energy levels and increased vitality.
  • Healthier skin and coat: essential fatty acids and antioxidants promote healthy skin and a shiny coat.

However, it is important to consult with a veterinarian before making any changes to pets’ diets.
