Irregular transfer of capybaras in Nordelta reported due to lack of official protocols

Environmental organizations and residents of the residential complex warn about the relocation of capybaras in Nordelta. They warn about the capture and removal of specimens without due transparency or visible authorizations.

A new environmental controversy erupted in the residential complex of Tigre after reports of a relocation of capybaras in Nordelta that allegedly did not comply with the current regulations.

Various groups of activists and local residents publicly denounced that a group of animals was captured and removed from the premises in trucks, in an operation whose legality and final destination remain under suspicion.

The conflict escalated after video recordings showing the moment the specimens were loaded onto transport vehicles went viral.

According to the complainants, these actions were carried out unexpectedly and without the presence of inspectors from the Buenos Aires Province Directorate of Flora and Fauna, the body responsible for overseeing any intervention on protected species in the Buenos Aires territory.

Lack of transparency in the capybara relocation operation in Nordelta

Environmentalists argue that the relocation of capybaras in Nordelta represents a violation of the wildlife management protocols.

The main concern lies in the absence of a biological management plan to justify the extraction of the rodents, as well as the lack of information about the conditions of the receiving habitats.

For civil organizations, the removal of the animals without a prior census or technical follow-up constitutes an irregular act that puts the integrity of the local wildlife at risk.

Meanwhile, the discontent among residents advocating for coexistence with the native fauna has grown, demanding a detailed explanation from the Nordelta Neighborhood Association (AVN) and provincial authorities about who authorized the procedure.

So far, no public documentation has been presented to support the need for this massive displacement of specimens outside the limits of the private neighborhood.

A persistent coexistence conflict

This episode adds to a series of disputes that have taken place in recent years in the wetlands of Tigre.

While a sector of the population complains about the overpopulation of these mammals and the inconveniences they cause in the urban infrastructure, environmental advocates emphasize that the relocation of capybaras in Nordelta is not a sustainable solution, but rather a displacement of the problem that ignores the root of the conflict: urbanization over natural ecosystems.

The situation remains under observation by the environmental authorities, while the corresponding judicial complaints are expected to be formalized to determine the responsibilities behind this questioned operation.
