Next Wednesday, April 29, the Animal Legal Protection Network will deliver more than 350,000 signatures from CHANGE.ORG to National Deputy Demián Arabia, requesting the urgent consideration of the REFORM OF LAW 14346, against acts of mistreatment and cruelty to animals.
Damián Arabia is one of the national legislators who, since the beginning of his term, has been promoting the modification of the law that dates back to 1954, which does not respond to the reality faced by animals in Argentina and requires urgent modification, incorporating new criminal types and adjustment of penalties.
In 2019, the first attempt was made to reform the Law, reaching only the floor of the Chamber of Deputies on November 10 of that year, without making progress.
This time, nine bills are presented in the Chamber of Deputies and another seven documents in the Upper House, none of which have been initiated in committees.
The animal protection organizations that are part of the network maintain that no one can oppose the idea that anyone who MISTREATS or MAKES ANIMALS VICTIMS OF ACTS OF CRUELTY should receive an exemplary punishment. Seventy-two years after law 14346, we can no longer talk about abandonment, sexual abuse, experimentation, vivisection, blood traction, trafficking, or shows where lives are exploited, and all issues affecting animals.
The modification of the law must be comprehensive for true, broad, and complete protection of all animals.
Therefore, we invite you to continue supporting the request to the legislators of Argentina to urgently address the Reform of Law 14346 by signing the following petition:
