During that time, the bear managed to avoid capture, but its image continued to appear intermittently in the forests of Montmorency County.
The plastic had marked its body. It left deep scars, hairless areas, and a painful abscess. However, its weight, about 50 kilograms, indicated that it had managed to survive.

In June of this year, a neighbor spotted the bear again and alerted the authorities. With his permission, rangers from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) set up a baited trap.
According to local reports, on June 2nd, they managed to sedate him carefully and, with improvised tools, even purchased that same day, they carefully cut the lid that was constricting his neck.
Just released, the animal, now two years old, was evaluated. Despite the visible marks and infection, he was surprisingly healthy and of normal weight.
After recovering from the anesthesia, they released him in his habitat with a small tag on his ear for future tracking, but without any elements that could harm him.
