Wild boar hunting with dogs is permitted in La Pampa.

## La Pampa allows hunting wild boars with dogs to control their population

The province of La Pampa has officially authorized the hunting season for wild boars, allowing the use of dogs in authorized hunting grounds and registered fields. This measure aims to control the wild boar population, which according to experts, causes significant damage to crops and pastures in the region.

Resolution No. 29 of the Subsecretariat of Agricultural Affairs responds to the increasing impact that wild boars have on local agricultural production, considering them a “plague” for rural fields.

The hunting season will run from March 1st to November 30th for males, while for females, the period will end on September 15th.

In addition to hunting wild boars with dogs, the regulations allow the hunting of other species such as red deer, antelope, buffalo, goats, and rams, in various modalities, including hunting with dogs.

The resolution emphasizes that all hunting activities must be carried out in controlled areas, ensuring proper regulation to prevent negative consequences for the ecosystem.

## In Río Negro, hunting wild boars with dogs generates controversy: What do you think?

Hunting wild boars with dogs has been authorized in the province of Río Negro in 2024, through a resolution, generating controversy. Animal rights activists argue that this practice subjects dogs to acts of cruelty. In fact, a bill in parliamentary status seeks to prohibit the use of packs of dogs.

Meanwhile, hunters claim that the dogs receive extreme care. The Subsecretariat of Wildlife, on the other hand, stated that the approval of these hunts aims to regulate an exotic species that causes damage to productive fields and native fauna.

Other provinces such as Entre Ríos and San Luis have halted this activity due to the same concerns. However, the discussion remains open, and many seek to formalize the rejection of this practice.
