They organized a large tree-planting event in San Miguel’s main reserve.

The Urban Nature Reserve ‘El Corredor’, one of the main green spaces in San Miguel, was the setting for a new environmental awareness campaign and a mass tree planting event.

The event, organized in collaboration with Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina, allowed the planting of 300 specimens of native trees and plants in areas undergoing restoration processes within the reserve.

Wide participation and interactive activities

More than 1,300 people attended the event, which included:

  • Guided tours and wildlife observation.
  • Seedling production and workshops on art and gardening.
  • Interpretive tour with the ArgentiNat platform, promoted by the Foundation.
  • Collective planting, allowing attendees to cultivate native plants at their homes.
  • Community bonfire, games, raffles, and live music.

A reclaimed space for the community

The mayor Jaime Méndez, who participated in the event, highlighted the importance of the reserve as a protected area, visited by neighbors, schools, and institutions from the region.

He also mentioned that this event took place within the framework of ‘Earth Hour’, a global initiative that promotes reflection and action in favor of the environment.

Continuous actions for ecological restoration

The collective planting is part of a series of environmental initiatives promoted in the reserve, including:

  • The “Tree Festival”, where a mass planting of native species took place.
  • Clean-up days on the Reconquista River, where neighbors collected over 300 kilos of waste, improving the ecosystem of the tributary.

Visiting hours at the Nature Reserve

The ‘El Corredor’ Reserve is open to the public at the following times:

  • Fridays, Sundays, and holidays: from 14:00 to 18:00.
  • Saturdays: from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Rainy days: closed.

With these initiatives, San Miguel reaffirms its commitment to environmental conservation, promoting citizen participation in actions that benefit biodiversity and sustainable development.
