They develop the first 100% autonomous solar motorcycle: generates its own energy solely from the sun and doesn’t need charging stations

European architects have presented an innovative solar motorcycle that recharges completely on its own, without the need for plugs or charging stations.

This is SOLARIS, the revolutionary motorcycle that promises to change the rules of sustainable mobility.

This motorcycle is the first in the world capable of generating its own energy exclusively through solar panels.

The innovation was developed by the studio MASK Architects, founded by Öznur Pınar Cer and Danilo Petta.

This vehicle operates without fuel, without heavy batteries, and without relying on electrical grids or commercial charging points.

A solar motorcycle with retractable wings

The most distinctive feature of SOLARIS is its circular retractable solar wings.

When the motorcycle is parked, these wings deploy like a canopy over the vehicle.

This system increases the solar capture surface by up to 150%, allowing the lithium storage unit to be fully recharged without external connection.

SOLARIS generates its own energy, anywhere and anytime, giving drivers complete freedom from traditional mobility systems,” the creators explain in the official presentation.

The wings integrate with a smart solar energy manager that distributes, stores, and monitors the capture in real-time.

Technology and design inspired by nature for this solar motorcycle

The design of this solar motorcycle is inspired by the anatomy of the leopard.

The stretched front geometry, muscular structural frame, and forward-leaning posture translate biological energy into mechanical expression, according to the architects.

SOLARIS uses a mixed frame of aluminum and carbon fiber to reduce weight. The swingarm also employs lightweight aluminum, maintaining the vehicle’s agility.

The propulsion system integrates a high-torque electric motor for instant acceleration.

Additionally, it incorporates regenerative braking that recovers kinetic energy during deceleration.

The motorcycle also features a digital cockpit and optional connectivity via mobile app, allowing drivers to track performance and solar capture in real-time.

Sustainable mobility key for regions without infrastructure

SOLARIS is born from MASK Architects’ “Invent and Integrate” approach. This philosophy drives the creation of energy solutions that adapt to environments where infrastructure is insufficient.

The solar motorcycle aims to be a practical response for mobility in regions with limited infrastructures.

It is also ideal for protected natural areas and developing communities.

“By eliminating the need for fuel or charging stations, SOLARIS brings renewable transportation to remote regions, developing communities, and countries with fragile infrastructure,” its designers point out.

The main features of SOLARIS:

  • Retractable solar wings that increase capture by 150%
  • Intelligent energy management system
  • High-torque electric motor with regenerative braking
  • Ultra-light aluminum and carbon frame
  • Zero CO₂ emissions and noise pollution
  • Total energy autonomy without electrical grid

SOLARIS completely eliminates fuel costs and reduces maintenance, achieving a faster return on investment than conventional electric motorcycles.

However, for now, SOLARIS remains a concept. Details about production, field testing, and real capacity for integration into everyday environments are yet to be known.

Nevertheless, this solar motorcycle opens a technological door that many manufacturers have avoided for years: truly self-sufficient vehicles that generate their own clean energy.
