They developed biodegradable and compostable bioplastics.

The company Novamont presented its range of bioplastics Mater-Bi, biodegradable and compostable, ideal for biodegradable mulching in soil according to the European standard UNE EN-17033 and other agricultural applications.

The Mater-Bi bioplastics are obtained through patented technologies in the transformation of starches, vegetable oils, and their combinations, making them biodegradable.

Their properties allow for optimal management of organic waste throughout the production, consumption, and final treatment cycle.

Circular Bioeconomy Model

Novamont, a Benefit Company with B Corporation certification, promotes a circular bioeconomy model based on efficiency and the sustainable use of renewable resources, as well as soil regeneration through innovation and the development of its own technologies.

Applications made from the Mater-Bi biopolymer help reduce the environmental impact of agriculture by replacing conventional plastics.

Conversion of Industrial Zones

Novamont’s development model begins with the conversion of uncompetitive industrial and research areas into integrated biorefineries, collaborating with all stakeholders in the value chain.

This cultural and industrial approach aims to create jobs, generate competitiveness, and improve workers’ skills through training programs.

The company has not stopped innovating since its inception and continues to invest in the development of new technologies and products. One of the most promising areas they are currently working on is the development of biodegradable and compostable packaging for the food industry.
