Every summer, thousands of small species of urban wildlife get trapped and die in residential pools as they cannot find a way out.
To reverse this situation, the American biologist Rich Mason designed the FrogLog, a floating device that allows frogs, bees, birds, lizards, turtles, and other small animals to safely and autonomously exit the water.
Intuitive design with no complex installation
The FrogLog consists of a floating platform with a textile ramp. Its integrated counterweight system allows it to be installed in less than two minutes, without the need for tools, drilling, or adhesives.
It automatically adjusts to the water level. It is compatible with above-ground, in-ground, and spa pools. Its operation is intuitive for animals, which use it without human assistance.
Environmental and water health benefits
The impact of the FrogLog goes beyond the visible:
- Reduces wildlife mortality in urban environments.
- Decreases the presence of decomposing bodies, improving water quality.
- Minimizes the use of chemicals in pool maintenance.
Manufactured with UV-resistant plastic and denier nylon, the device does not consume energy or generate waste, so its ecological footprint is minimal.
Harmonious coexistence with urban wildlife
During the warm months, animals desperately seek sources of water, often with no way out. Simple technologies like the FrogLog not only save lives but also promote a more respectful coexistence with the natural environment.
Furthermore, its implementation could be extended to ponds, public fountains, or irrigation tanks, contributing to the preservation of local species and the reduction of negative impacts on ecosystems.
