In Argentina, more and more people between 25 and 40 years old are choosing mobility alternatives that fit a more flexible lifestyle, less tied to the traditional idea of ownership. For these generations, the car is no longer a status symbol: today, experiences, travel, and a smarter use of resources are prioritized.
In this context, carsharing is established as a practical and accessible option, especially in summer, when demand grows and mobility becomes key. With a collaborative spirit and a sustainable approach, users find in this service of car rental by the minute, hour, or day a modern way to move without the costs and commitments of owning a vehicle.
User Profile: Young People Without Their Own Car
An internal report from MyKeego, Argentina’s first carsharing company, for the first half of 2025, confirms this trend:
- 68% of users are between 25 and 40 years old.
- Seven out of ten do not own a car, either due to economic decision or preferring an on-demand mobility model.
- More than half state they prefer to pay only for the actual use of the vehicle, avoiding fixed costs like maintenance or registration.
Seasonality also plays a key role:
- 48% increase their usage frequency in summer.
- 62% choose it mainly for getaways or short trips, reinforcing the idea that they seek experiences over ownership.
- One in three users values the positive environmental impact of not having a car immobilized most of the time.
A Cultural Shift Towards Alternative Mobility
“Every summer we see how young people adopt carsharing as a natural part of their way of moving. They no longer seek to own a car, but to use it when they really need it, with more freedom and without burdens. Our challenge is to continue showing that this modality is not only practical and flexible, but it also responds to a change in priorities: smarter, more sustainable mobility in line with today’s urban life,” said Rodrigo Pérez Terra, CEO and Co-founder of MyKeego.

Fleet Expansion and New Destinations
In this scenario, MyKeego announced the incorporation of 50 new vehicles, reaching a total of 130 active on the street. The expansion responds to:
- The high demand expected for the summer season.
- The platform’s launch in Mar del Plata.
- The changing habits of new generations.
During the last long weekend, the company reported a 95% occupancy, a performance it projects to replicate —and even surpass— in the main tourist destinations in the country during the summer.
Carsharing and Urban Sustainability
Carsharing not only responds to a cultural change, but it also aligns with the goals of sustainable mobility:
- Fewer cars immobilized on public roads.
- Reduction of emissions associated with the vehicle fleet.
- Greater efficiency in the use of urban resources.
This model integrates into the global trend of collaborative economy, where access replaces ownership and mobility becomes a flexible service, adapted to the needs of each user.
Carsharing positions itself as a modern and sustainable alternative in mobility for those seeking experiences over material goods. With the expansion of MyKeego and the growing adoption by young people, Argentina moves towards a smarter, collaborative mobility model in line with current environmental and urban challenges.
