Sustainable projects: Employee involvement boosts productivity by 30%

In a world where sustainability has ceased to be an option to become a strategic necessity, many companies still do not include an essential group in their sustainable projects: blue-collar workers. Despite representing about 30% of the active population in Spain, according to the Active Population Survey (EPA) by the INE, this collective still lacks the necessary training and tools to fully contribute to the sustainable transition.

The technological platform DoGood People is leading a change in this direction, offering digital solutions and training programs to integrate workers into companies’ sustainability strategies. While initiatives often focus on executives and office employees, workers in factories, warehouses, and logistics possess practical knowledge to identify and implement sustainable solutions in their daily tasks.

According to a McKinsey study, companies that involve their worker employees in sustainability programs achieve a 30% increase in productivity and a 10% cost reduction. However, the lack of access to tools and training limits the active participation of this sector in environmental and social transformation.

To address this challenge, DoGood People developed a digital platform with gamified mobile applications that enable employees to measure their environmental impact and participate in challenges designed to promote sustainable habits. This approach not only improves companies’ ESG (environmental, social, and governance) indicators but also strengthens workers’ sense of belonging.

Moreover, including worker employees in these efforts strengthens corporate image with new generations of workers. A Deloitte study indicates that 65% of employees under 30 prefer companies with a clear social and environmental commitment.

Examples like Siemens Gamesa and Fluidra demonstrate the success of this strategy. Currently, 52.63% of DoGood People’s clients include blue-collar workers in their sustainability programs, highlighting the increasing demand for solutions tailored to this group.

“Real change happens when all levels of an organization commit to sustainability. Blue-collar workers play a fundamental role in this process, and their integration is key to business success,” says Ignacio Barriendos, founder and CEO of DoGood People. With initiatives like this, sustainability ceases to be a distant goal to become a joint effort involving the entire organization, ensuring a positive impact on a social, environmental, and economic level.

Green Jobs: Demands and Opportunities in the Energy Transition

The global labor market is undergoing a profound transformation. According to the World Economic Forum, between 75% and 85% of the most demanded professions in 2030 do not exist yet. This gap reflects the urgency to train the workforce to adapt to new requirements. The report The Future of Jobs Report 2020 highlights that almost half of workers will need to change their activity, many towards occupations linked to the green economy.

The green economy, defined by the UN as one that promotes human well-being and social equity while reducing environmental risks, is not limited to a specific sector but encompasses a wide range of activities oriented towards sustainability.
