In line with its vision to promote more conscious tourism and in line with global sustainability trends, Alvear Icon Hotel continues to receive prestigious awards for its commitment to sustainability.
During 2025, the establishment has applied for certification under the Sustainability Guidelines of the Argentine Tourism Entity and the acclaimed international seal “Greenest Hotels”, awarded by the Association of Tourism Hotels (AHT). This program is accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and backed by the Argentine Institute of Standardization and Certification (IRAM).
Commitment to sustainability and responsible guest experiences
The hotel has already achieved significant milestones in accessibility, integrating solutions for people with disabilities, and the distinctive CocinAR Seal, for ensuring menus aligned with sustainable principles. Additionally, it received the Nespresso Recycling Award thanks to its capsule recycling model, which generated 95 kg of compost for over 100 rural orchards and recycled 21 kg of aluminum, promoting circular economy.
Since 2022, Alvear Icon has been promoting the training of its staff and inspiring its visitors to join the change. Actions such as installing LED lights and solar panels in the pool help reduce energy consumption, while strict waste management encourages efficient recycling.
Innovations and connection with nature
Among other relevant actions, the hotel replaced plastic packaging with eco-friendly options and offers spa products made with environmentally friendly inputs. It also implemented dispensers to reduce the use of plastic bottles.
Through its digital directory for rooms, guests can access guides on responsible tourism, energy-saving tips, and interactive maps of ecological points of interest such as the Ecoparque or the Ecological Reserve of Puerto Madero.
With additional initiatives, such as integrating native plants in its Wine Bar and offering bike and scooter rentals, the hotel reinforces its mission to combine luxury with a sustainable focus.
Alvear Icon Hotel demonstrates that luxury tourism can be compatible with environmental responsibility, inviting all its guests to be active participants in this change towards a healthier planet.
What is sustainable tourism?
Sustainable tourism is presented as an alternative focused on reducing negative impacts on the environment, local communities, and the economy in tourist destinations.
This model aims to maximize benefits for local populations while at the same time preserving natural and cultural resources.
The main objective is to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the same environments and tourism experiences as current generations.
Sustainable tourism has the potential to become a driver of economic development and an ally in environmental protection, as long as it is carried out consciously, prioritizing the well-being of communities and the natural environment.
