“San Vicente by Bike”: a proposal for sustainable and responsible tourism to care for the environment

The Municipality of San Vicente has launched the program “San Vicente en Bicicleta”, an innovative touristic and recreational proposal that invites residents and visitors to explore the city in a different way: on wheels and in full connection with nature.

This initiative, coordinated by the Tourism Secretariat, seeks to promote sustainable and responsible tourism through practices that have a positive impact on the community, strengthen local development, and are environmentally friendly.

San Vicente en bicicleta

The first edition of “San Vicente en Bicicleta” took place from July 24th to 27th at the Laguna del Ojo Natural Reserve. Participants enjoyed guided tours that allowed them to explore various aspects of the district, combining adventure, history, and culture.

During the bike experience, cyclists travel through four thematic circuits specially designed to get to know the local heritage in depth:

  • Historical Center Circuit: A journey through the old streets and emblematic buildings that tell the history and identity of this Buenos Aires locality. From the central square to the old houses and monuments, this route invites you to immerse yourself in the rich cultural and architectural heritage of San Vicente.
  • Historical Cultural Circuit: This route combines the charm of the Historical Center with the fascinating history of the Historical Museum Quinta 17 de Octubre. The proposal invites you to tour the representative buildings of the historical center, learn about its history and the people who shaped this community, and then delve into the political, social, and cultural legacy safeguarded by the museum. It is ideal for experiencing the essence of San Vicente and its heritage richness.
  • Necropolis Circuit: A unique proposal to discover the history and heritage of the community through the local historical cemetery. The tour invites you to walk its paths and learn about the life stories of illustrious figures, pioneers, and individuals who shaped the San Vicente identity. Additionally, it allows observing the forms and customs of funerary construction of the time, with neoclassical and gothic-style tombs reflecting the cultural and religious beliefs of the 19th century. It’s a true journey back in time that helps to better understand the past and appreciate the cultural richness influenced by the traditions and customs of the 1870s.
  • Natural Circuit: A journey through the biodiversity of the Laguna del Ojo, with unique landscapes, native species, and an environment that connects participants actively and respectfully with nature.

Vida saludable en bicicleta

The tours depart from the intersection of Quiroga and Biocca, at 2 p.m., and are designed for the whole family. Participants have the option to bring their own bicycle or request one on loan (limited availability).
