Thanks to the effort of the workers and an efficient separation system, ‘Peuma’, a recycling plant in San Luis, managed to recover 25 tons of recyclable material from 10 municipalities, avoiding the creation of new open-air landfills and promoting the circular economy.

The waste recovery system at ‘Peuma’ is essential for the environmental sustainability of the region.

Every day, workers receive waste from 10 municipalities and classify them on the recovery belt, where each worker specializes in a specific material such as cardboard, clear PET, colored PET, scrap, aluminum, tetrapak, polypropylene, and glass.

From the Waste Environmental Management department, they work together with municipalities to raise awareness about waste separation at the source, which facilitates the work of the workers and improves the quality of recyclable materials.

## Daily Recovery Work in Municipalities of San Luis
The recovery work is carried out every day. During the morning, 30 people participate in the classification and distribution of waste in different areas such as the recovery belt, tractor, shovel, hopper, and guard.

In the afternoon shift, 12 workers are in charge of cleaning the recovered materials. Approximately 400 tons of waste enter the plant monthly.

In addition to reducing visual and sanitary pollution caused by landfills, the recovery of recyclable materials helps reduce the exploitation of natural resources, decreases greenhouse gas emissions, and contributes to the preservation of ecosystems.

By promoting recycling and reuse, ‘Peuma’ not only efficiently manages waste but also advocates for a more sustainable future for the province.

## Collaboration and Circular Economy
With these actions, ‘Peuma’ positions itself as a reference in local environmental management and demonstrates that collaboration between communities, companies, and recyclers can be a key factor in building a more sustainable future.

Promoting a circular economy is essential to strengthen planet care. Among its many benefits, the approach reduces waste generation, minimizes negative impacts on the environment, contributes to nature conservation, reduces pollution, and improves public health and population well-being.

## Why Is Waste Separation at the Source Important?
Waste separation favors the recycling of various materials, contributing to saving natural and economic resources, raw materials, energy, and pollutant emissions into the atmosphere.

In this simple way, we can all take care of the environment in which we live. Contribute your bit, separate your waste, and turn them into resources.

Home separation is complemented, then, with recycling and reuse of products, responsible consumption, and composting of organic waste. These practices result in numerous benefits.
