Atypical temperatures of up to 20 degrees in Buenos Aires: mild and humid Thursday in the middle of winter according to the SMN

The City of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area enjoy a climatic relief this Thursday, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees, a surprise for winter. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the weather will remain humid and stable throughout the metropolitan area today, July 16.

Weather in Buenos Aires: An atypical Thursday

Although the sky will be mostly covered, visibility will be good and rain is unlikely, with a precipitation probability below 10%. It is recommended to enjoy this brief respite before conditions worsen towards the weekend, with rains forecasted by the Early Warning System.

Since early morning, the Federal Capital experiences a minimum of 12 degrees, significantly higher than the previous days that were below zero. By the afternoon, the north wind will raise the maximum temperature to a pleasant 20 degrees, something unusual for this time of year.

In the Buenos Aires suburbs, temperatures will vary. In the north, areas like Pilar could see highs of 22 degrees, while on the southern coast, temperatures will remain around 18 degrees in the afternoon.

The north winds will be constant, with speeds between 13 and 22 km/h, generating high humidity of 81%, making the air feel heavier.

As night falls, the cloudiness will increase, and temperatures will gradually drop to an average of 18 degrees. The chances of rain will remain low, allowing outdoor activities until midnight.

Alerts in Argentina: Winds and snowfalls

The Early Warning System has lifted the alerts for extreme cold but has issued a yellow alert for strong winds in other parts of the country, especially in the center and north of Santa Fe and all of Entre Ríos, where gusts could reach 65 km/h.

In Patagonia, unstable weather is expected with an alert for snowfalls in mountainous areas, while the rest of the central provinces will enjoy partly clear skies.

On Friday, July 17, a significant change is expected with the arrival of rains and storms in the AMBA, although temperatures will remain high, with highs around 22 degrees.

The weekend will bring a change of wind towards the southwest, introducing drier and colder air. For Saturday, July 18, a clear thermal drop is anticipated, with highs barely reaching 17 degrees.

Sunday, July 19 will mark a return to winter conditions in the Pampas region, with minimum temperatures of 9 degrees and highs not exceeding 15 degrees in Buenos Aires.
