Trevor Hutchings, CEO of the REA (Renewable Energy Association and Clean Technology), highlighted the progress. “It is our flagship annual report and a leading assessment of the UK’s renewable energy and clean technology sector,” he said.

The numbers showing renewable energies in the UK are positive, but acceleration is also necessary. In addition to decarbonization in the heating and transportation sectors, where renewables represent only 9.4% and 6% of demand, respectively.

“As the Prime Minister has reiterated in recent days, renewable energy and clean technology are driving economic growth and creating jobs on a global scale,” Hutchings added.

## Energy independence
Michael Shanks, Member of Parliament and Minister of Energy at the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, spoke about this.

“These findings confirm that the government’s clean energy mission is not only the right long-term option but is essential for strengthening our energy independence, protecting people’s bills, and helping address climate change.

“Working hand in hand with our renewable energy industry, we have already achieved a record of 131 renewable projects in just four months,” he emphasized.
