The rescue of a boa at the airport of Resistencia, in Chaco, marked an unusual day on Saturday afternoon.
An adult female boa constrictor (Eunectes notaeus) approximately 2.30 meters long appeared in the top of a tree within the airport grounds.
The intervention began at 17:30 when the control tower alerted about the presence of the reptile.
Inspector Rosana Gutiérrez, head of the Resistencia Operational Unit of the Airport Security Police, requested specialized support to address the situation.
How the specialized police intervention was conducted after the appearance of the boa at the airport
Sergeant Germán Ofelio Daniel Franco, a specialist in ophidism from the Department of Continuing Education, arrived at the scene on the police motorcycle MK-132.
After interviewing the official, he verified the presence of the snake in a tree near the operational area.

The officer proceeded to rescue and safeguard the specimen with the appropriate safety measures. He prioritized both the integrity of the animal and that of third parties throughout the operation.
The intervention was carried out without incidents in a sensitive area due to the constant operational movement of the airport. The rescue of the boa at the airport prevented risk situations for passengers and staff.

The rescued boa constrictor had the following characteristics:
- Species: Eunectes notaeus (boa constrictor)
- Sex: adult female
- Length: approximately 2.30 meters

Destination and release of the boa found at the airport
The snake was transported to the Reptile Nature Refuge, linked to the intervening personnel. The specimen will remain there on a temporary basis until its subsequent release into its natural habitat.

Wildlife in urban areas
The appearance of the boa at the airport of Resistencia reminds us that wildlife coexists increasingly closer to spaces intervened by humans.
This time, the appearance occurred in one of the city’s most monitored points.
