Catamarca: Economic Sciences Council bets on solar energy

The **Professional Council of Economic Sciences of Catamarca** took **[a historic step in sustainability](https://noticiasambientales.com/energia/crearon-paneles-solares-flexibles-para-instalar-en-las-rejas/)** by implementing a **photovoltaic solar energy system**, positioning itself as the **first institution of its kind in the country** to adopt this technology. The initiative not only represents an **environmental milestone**, but also a strategic investment that reflects a management committed to the future.

The measure was driven by the current leadership of the Council, led by **Mr. Federico Rueda**, who assumed the presidency in 2021 after years of work within the institution. Rueda highlights that this action is part of a management vision based on **efficiency, intelligent savings, and sustainable innovation**. “We are proud to be pioneers. We hope that this experience serves as a model for other Councils in the country,” he said.

The installed system consists of **12 solar panels of 585 watts** and a **6-kilowatt Growatt inverter**, allowing for the generation of **12.6 megawatt-hours per year**. The project was carried out by the local company **HAND Construction & Renewable Energies**, which has been operating in Catamarca and the NOA since 2018.

The impact of this investment is significant: the Council will reduce its electricity consumption by **47%** and avoid the emission of **4.6 tons of carbon dioxide** annually, equivalent to the positive effect of **planting 75 trees per year**. “To put the savings into perspective, it is equivalent to the annual cost of the Council’s basketball, soccer, and volleyball coaches,” Rueda pointed out.

## Commitment to the Environment and the Profession

In addition to the **economic and energy savings**, this action is part of the institutional challenges faced by the Council. In a context of high economic uncertainty, Rueda emphasizes the importance of **forecasting and professional advice**. “The decrease in inflation allows for more certain budgeting and thinking about strategic investments like this one,” he noted.

Looking ahead, the Council’s president envisions **expanding the solar system to the institution’s social and sports grounds** with the aim of providing **clean energy** to the household grid. “Argentina has enormous potential in renewable energies. The challenge is to dare to take the first step,” he concluded.

With this initiative, Catamarca not only leads in energy efficiency but also in a way of managing that combines **environmental commitment**, strategic vision, and professional responsibility.

## Launch of a Spherical Wind Turbine, Ideal for Household Use

**Energy scarcity** is a global problem, at least in terms of traditional generation methods. In the search for **[alternatives for households](https://noticiasambientales.com/energia/lanzan-una-turbina-eolica-esferica-ideal-para-el-uso-domestico/)**, the **spherical wind turbine** emerges as a novelty.

Renewables represent a strong and necessary commitment, which also brings about the **emergence of innovations**. In this case, it is a device that does not require strong wind gusts and is easy to assemble.

**Solar panels** have emerged as the fastest solution and alternative, mainly because they are easy to install at the household level and help **reduce dependence on other non-renewable energies**.
