The Playa de los Caracoles is one of the most unique spots on the Atlantic Coast, where the natural landscape and the sound of the sea define the experience.
Located south of San Clemente del Tuyú, it offers a wide and quiet environment that attracts families and visitors seeking tranquility.
This space contrasts with the popular resorts and cities with intense nightlife of the Atlantic Coast, and is ideal for discovering new and less crowded beaches.
The Playa de los Caracoles is located in the large area formed between the Talas Sur neighborhood and Playa Grande, and stands out for its virgin corner character.
This space is located south of San Clemente del Tuyú, the closest seaside city to the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA).
There, many families seek peace, contact with nature, and moments of rest away from the crowds.

Why is it called Playa de Caracoles?
The distinctive feature of Playa de los Caracoles appears when the sea recedes due to the tide. At that moment, shells of great variety and all sizes become visible, creating a particular landscape on the sand.
This phenomenon occurs because the tides deposit a large number of shells on the shore. Thus, an environment is created that contrasts with the typical smooth beach that predominates in other parts of the coast.
Moreover, the vastness of the place allows for various outdoor activities. Visitors can:
- Walk along the shore.
- Sunbathe in wide areas.
- Practice beach sports.
- Enjoy sea baths.
There, many children collect shells as a souvenir. However, it should be noted that specialists recommend leaving them on the beach because they play a key role in the marine ecosystem, essential for the natural balance.
The area is also often chosen by fishing enthusiasts, as from the coast you can catch catfish, croakers, and whiting, among other species.
Nature and must-do activities
Besides Playa de los Caracoles, the area offers other recreational alternatives. One of them is the nursery Cosme Argerich, which has 14 hectares of woodland facing the sea.
In that space, visitors use grills, tables, and benches to spend the day. There are also group horseback rides with guides, bike path tours, and leisurely walks between the forest and the coast.
From 77th Street, the southern limit of the Argerich nursery, to the beginning of Playa de los Caracoles, wide beaches extend.
Additionally, every 200 meters there are food stalls where you can buy fast food or get hot water for mate.

A landscape chosen by photographers
Playa de los Caracoles also attracts photography enthusiasts. There, the sunset offers a unique color, uncommon in other coastal areas, turning images into true postcards.
Meanwhile, the tides leave natural drawings in the sand. These traces mix with shells, seaweed, and small water channels formed as the sea recedes.
This destination is located 25 blocks from the center of San Clemente del Tuyú and 20 kilometers from Santa Teresita.
From Buenos Aires, access is via Highway 2 to Dolores, then via Provincial Route 63 and Provincial Route 11.
The journey, mostly on highways and marked routes, takes about four hours of travel from the City of Buenos Aires.
Taking the Obelisk as a reference, the distance is about 340 kilometers, making Playa de los Caracoles an accessible option for those seeking nature and relaxation.
