With the spread of the fires, Patagonia is going through one of the most critical moments of the last decades. Three major fire outbreaks are affecting different regions: El Bolsón in RÃo Negro, Epuyén in Chubut, and Valle Magdalena in LanÃn National Park in Neuquén.
Although measuring the environmental impact is a complex task, there are already some estimates of how long natural repairs could take.
Recently, a young environmentalist predicted that the restoration of these ecosystems could take over 200 years. This was expressed by Luis MartÃnez, an activist from Corrientes, when consulted.
### Incendios en la Patagonia: hasta 200 años para recuperar pérdidas

The statements were made on the “Noticiero Central” of the “Canal de Noticias 24/7.” There, he emphasized the severity of the damages caused by the flames.
The specialist highlighted how difficult it is to accurately calculate the number of species affected by the fires. He also mentioned that in some areas, it will be necessary to conduct an assessment of the damage intensity to decide whether intervention is possible or if nature should be allowed to take its course and regenerate.
This process will depend largely on rainfall, he explained. “The recovery of these devastated areas will not take 10 or 20 years, but over 200 years for the ecosystems to be adequately restored,” MartÃnez determined.
He also warned about the decrease in precipitation in the country, which has led to droughts and worsened the fire situation.
# Piden que Nación declare la emergencia económica
The lack of funds to cover the losses generated by the fires triggered a cascade of donations and solidarity chains. However, the Senate seeks to approve a law of [emergency economic](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/argentina-enfrenta-una-crisis-recurrente-de-incendios-forestales-que-exige-prevision-y-soluciones/) to ensure support.
There is a recent precedent when the upper house approved it for similar events in the province of Córdoba.

The request was made by Mónica Silva from RÃo Negro, who requested declaring [housing, environmental, and economic emergency in RÃo Negro and Chubut for 180 days](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/argentina-enfrenta-una-crisis-recurrente-de-incendios-forestales-que-exige-prevision-y-soluciones/), with the intention of addressing the demands of the main regions affected by the fires: El Bolsón, Epuyén, El Hoyo, and the Andean Region.
