The next Saturday, March 28, the 20th edition of Earth Hour will be celebrated, the largest environmental movement in the world, present in more than 180 countries and territories.
Driven by WWF and organized in Argentina by the Fundación Vida Silvestre, the initiative invites millions of people to dedicate 60 minutes for the planet, turning off the lights and performing concrete actions for nature.
When: Date and Time
Earth Hour is celebrated on the last Saturday of March, that is, this Saturday the 28th, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM local time in each location.
Activities in Argentina
The Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina invites participation in free and in-person proposals:
- Buenos Aires (San Miguel, Sunday, March 29): central event at the El Corredor Urban Nature Reserve, with family activities such as planting native species, cleaning riverbanks, interpretive tours, educational games, and circus shows with recycled materials.
- Puerto Iguazú, Misiones (Friday, March 27): new edition of “Plogging for the Planet”, which combines physical exercise with environmental action by collecting waste while walking or jogging.
Both activities require prior registration at vidasilvestre.org.ar/horadelplaneta, where ideas are also offered to participate from anywhere.
A Movement with Impact
According to the WWF Living Planet Report, wildlife populations are experiencing an alarming decline due to climate change and biodiversity loss. Earth Hour serves as a reminder of the power of collective action against these threats.
Martín Font, Director of Communication and Environmental Education at Fundación Vida Silvestre, noted: “Earth Hour is much more than a moment; it is a movement that inspires and reminds us of the importance of acting collectively to build a more resilient future”.
Meanwhile, Kirsten Schuijt, Director General of WWF International, highlighted that for two decades the campaign has been a universal moment of hope and unity in the face of the climate and nature crisis.

Beyond Turning Off the Lights
The proposal invites dedicating an hour to the planet not only by turning off the lights but also by performing concrete actions with a positive impact:
- Planting trees and native species.
- Reducing plastic consumption.
- Participating in community cleanups.
- Promoting sustainable habits at home and work.
Institutional Support
In Argentina, the campaign is supported by the Subsecretaría de Ambiente de San Miguel, the Municipality of Iguazú, the El Corredor Reserve, and companies such as Naranja X, Santander Río, Zurich, Eco Factory, Springwall, Carrefour, Iguazú Jungle, Grupo Bordín, and Wandergreen.
Earth Hour 2026 celebrates 20 years of environmental action and reaffirms itself as the most important global awareness movement. Its message is clear: each person can be a protagonist of change, and together it is possible to build a more sustainable future.
