NASA warns of “millennial flood” in the United States

NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the U.S. (NOAA) have issued an alert for an extreme climatic phenomenon, forecasting a “millennial flood” that will affect several states in the central part of the country in April 2025.

The precipitation could transform extensive regions into disaster areas in a matter of days.

### States most affected by the possible “millennial flood”
The climatic event will have greater intensity in the states of:
– **Arkansas**
– **Missouri**
– **Tennessee**
– **Illinois**
– **Indiana**
– **Kentucky**

Authorities warn that this phenomenon could mark a before and after in the climatic history of the U.S., as the equivalent of four months of rain is expected to fall in just five days, significantly affecting entire communities.

## An unprecedented phenomenon
Meteorologists have classified the event as an “unusual threat,” with large-scale consequences that will leave a “historical mark” in Arkansas, Kentucky, and other adjacent regions.

*”It will be an unprecedented climatic event, threatening to unleash historic floods, the worst in 1,000 years,”* indicated NASA.

## Causes of the extreme event
Specialists explain that this phenomenon is due to the interaction of various meteorological factors, including:
– **An “atmospheric river”**, which transports large amounts of moisture from the tropics to the center of the U.S.
– **Extreme weather conditions**, exacerbated by **climate change**.

## Preparations in the U.S.
Given the magnitude of the event, the North American country is preparing to face one of the worst floods in its recent history. Authorities are working on emergency plans and preventive evacuations, with the aim of mitigating damage to infrastructure and protecting the population.

This scenario reinforces the need for urgent actions against climate change, as extreme events like this could become more frequent in the future.
