For nature lovers and those who enjoy discovering new wonderful places, Cerro Cónico, in Esquel, Chubut, emerges as an ideal option. It is a lavender and aromatic field, managed by a family, that invites you to discover the most beautiful of the native flora.
“This is a lavender park in development started in 2023. At the moment, we have planted 4500 plants of 9 different species,” says Osvaldo Zampella, who leads the project.

“In my life, I have been a great lover of the native forest, plants, and trees in general,” he says about the venture.

“The project was born to give a productive character to our farm and preserve the native forest, in approximately around 60 hectares,” he explains. “Furthermore, we have a stream of transparent and drinkable water whose source originates on our property,” he adds.
The family venture started two years ago and is characterized by having 80% lavender and 20% aromatics (rosemary, curry). It features unique landscapes and attractive areas crossed by a crystal-clear stream.
The lavender park is developed in different sections over an area of five hectares, where different environments with pathways appear.
“The stream as a backdrop along with the forest and these plantations of lavender, as well as rosemary and curry, in addition to a plantation of red and European ash, maple, lilac, and acacia trees,” Zampella describes.
As he explains, the lavender is planted in the traditional way in large soil patches and then in different areas for shepherds. “The entire farm is connected to solar energy, as well as the irrigation of the lavender, which comes from a solar pump as well as parts of the mentioned stream,” he adds.
Where is the farm located
The farm is located two kilometers from the town of Los Cipreses, 20 kilometers from Trevelin.

“It is important to mention that we also have a viewpoint and birdwatching can be done due to the amount of native forest. We have a large number of kingfishers, among other species. There are different trails with bridges, a lagoon, and several branches of the stream that make up a great natural and biosphere environment,” highlights the project leader.
There are also spaces for contemplation with benches and some waterfalls for meditation and enjoying the landscape.
When can it be visited
Although the park has not yet opened to the public, “we continue with the work to be able to open by the end of the year with a restricted number of visitors,” they clarified.
“I also want to express my gratitude to all those who have collaborated with the enormous work done with great commitment and to my family for supporting the project,” Zampella concludes.
