Urban Waste and Pressure on Aquatic Ecosystems

The accumulation of waste in water bodies like San Pedro Creek represents a direct threat to biodiversity and population health.

In addition to manual clean-ups, volunteers emphasized the need to strengthen the waste collection and final disposal system in the city, as well as to install more containers in critical points and promote source separation.

Education and Participation, Keys to Change

The clean-up days will continue in the coming weeks and will include educational activities and workshops on waste management, water conservation, and recycling.

The goal is to involve more sectors of the community actively in environmental care and to build a culture of respect for local ecosystems.

The organizing organizations pointed out that these actions not only help restore a natural space but also strengthen the bond between the community and its environment, promoting values of solidarity, participation, and environmental commitment.
