On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, the company RES, a leader in the field of renewable energies, announced the annual renewal of its sustainable mobility initiative, a pioneering program that rewards its employees who commute to work by bicycle with one euro per day.
This proposal, which already has nine editions, has achieved significant results in terms of:
– Reduction of carbon footprint.
– Improvement in the physical and mental health of workers.
– Promotion of responsible and ecological habits.
Since its implementation in 2016, the program has allowed employees to travel more than 660,000 kilometers by bicycle, avoiding the emission of 100 tons of CO2.
Additionally, daily activity has led to a decrease in stress and anxiety, reducing absenteeism and strengthening well-being in the corporate environment.
### Benefits and Recognition for Participants
What started with only 5 employees, now has 60 cyclists who choose sustainable mobility as an alternative to the car.
Every year, RES holds a special party where each participant receives a gift card with the accumulated amount.
Furthermore, the company holds a raffle, and the winner receives a corporate bicycle as an additional incentive.
### Commitment to Sustainable Mobility and the Community
The promotion of cycling is not limited to its employees. RES also:
– Sponsors sports teams, such as CD Triatlón Albacete RES, with over 350 athletes participating in national and international competitions.
– Collaborates with Urbanciclo, an ecological messaging company, replacing vehicles with cargo bicycles for internal shipments between its facilities.
### Expansion towards Culture and Inclusion
RES’s environmental commitment extends to the cultural sphere. The company supports the Abycine Green program, which promotes sustainable practices within the Abycine International Film Festival, eliminating the use of plastics and offering free tickets to those who attend by bicycle.
Since 2019, RES also collaborates with the NGO En Bici Sin Edad, providing adapted tricycles for elderly and mobility-impaired individuals to enjoy outdoor rides.
### Leadership in the Renewable Energy Sector
With over 40 years of experience, RES operates in 24 countries, developing projects in:
– Wind and solar energy.
– Energy storage and distribution.
– Green hydrogen and electric transmission.
Currently managing more than 28,000 megawatts in renewable energy projects, RES plans to add 26,000 megawatts in the next five years.
Through 1,300 installations globally, the company maintains 43,000 megawatts of renewable assets, with a team of 4,500 employees dedicated to the management, operation, and maintenance of energy infrastructures.
RES’s vision reinforces the importance of combining technology, renewable energies, and sustainable mobility, establishing itself as a reference in the global energy transition and the construction of a greener future.
