National Parks adds 31 new rangers to protect Argentina’s protected areas

The National Parks Administration (APN) incorporated 31 new park rangers who will work in various protected areas of Argentina.

These will reinforce conservation and oversight tasks in various national parks across the country.

The new agents graduated this Tuesday after completing a demanding nine-month training program in Córdoba.

This is the XXXIII Promotion of National Park Rangers, which completed its training at the Training and Capacity Building Center in Protected Areas (CFCAP) in Embalse, Córdoba.

The graduation ceremony marked the beginning of a new stage for these professionals who will safeguard Argentina’s natural heritage.

Rigorous training for the new park rangers

The new park rangers went through a rigorous selection process and various evaluation stages before entering the Qualification Course.

In particular, during 9 months the candidates acquired essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform within the National System of Protected Areas.

The training aimed to prepare the agents to face the challenges of on-site conservation. The program included training in:

  • Inspection and control techniques
  • Management of protected natural areas
  • Attention to sustainable tourism
  • Safety and rescue procedures

The president of the APN, Sergio Álvarez, led the ceremony and highlighted the fundamental role of the graduates.

“You are the future and the guardians of conservation and our territory,” he expressed to the new park rangers.

The event was attended by the Chief of Staff of APN, Guillermo Diaz Cornejo; Board Member Walter Rubén Scibilia; and the National Director of Operations, José Albrizio.

Municipal officials and representatives of local security forces also participated.

During the ceremony, the authorities presented the diploma and the distinctive hat to each of the new park rangers.

Additionally, mentions were awarded to outstanding candidates and the protected areas that will be their first destination were assigned.

The Park Ranger Corps and a 90-year legacy of protecting nature

Since its creation in 1934, the National Park Ranger Corps represents the first line of on-site conservation.

Now, these new park rangers join the legacy of those who guard Argentina’s natural wealth in every corner of the country.

This XXXIII Promotion strengthens the presence of the APN in the national territory.

In particular, the 31 agents will contribute their knowledge, skills, and specialized training acquired at the training center.

The new park rangers will assume responsibilities in conservation, oversight, and attention to tourism in their assigned destinations.

Their incorporation represents a significant boost for the protection of Argentina’s natural heritage and the strengthening of the National System of Protected Areas.
