The Argentine Naval Prefecture carried out a procedure at kilometer 183 of the Riacho Itapé, where it detected suspected illegal hunting activity and seized wild animal meat, weapons, and technological equipment.
The operation began when officers of the national Maritime Authority observed a boat near the shore, whose occupants were performing suspicious maneuvers while transferring a suitcase to a truck parked on the riverbank.
In this situation, they proceeded to identify and inspect it, confirming the presence of five packages with slaughtered animal meat, in violation of the current regulations. Furthermore, the individuals involved lacked the corresponding enabling documentation.
Illegal hunting
During the procedure, ammunition, communication equipment, a GPS, and a thermal scope were seized. Additionally, the watercraft used was confiscated, and administrative actions were initiated as established by the REGINAVE.
The value of the seized items amounts to more than 27 million pesos. The Auxiliary Prosecutor’s Office No. 03 of the city, led by Dr. Denise Caraballo, is involved in the case.
It is worth noting that, so far this year, the Concepción del Uruguay Prefecture has recorded thirty-five procedures for violations of the Fishing Law, two for illegal possession of weapons, more than fifteen hundred people identified, six hundred and forty-one inspected vessels, fifty-nine violations of the REGINAVE, nine seized vessels, and sixteen apprehended individuals.
The Institution emphasizes that these operations are essential to prevent crimes, protect wildlife, and ensure navigation safety in the Uruguay River region.
