Entre Ríos invests $180 million in the conservation of native forests

In an effort to promote the conservation and sustainable management of native forests, the province of Entre Ríos implemented a financial support program for producers.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of Entre Ríos made the first delivery of Non-Reimbursable Subsidies of the 2024 call, for an amount of 180 million pesos.

The granted resources are framed within National Law 26.331 for the Preservation of the Environment of Native Forests and Provincial Law 10.284.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, Raúl Boc-Hó, highlighted that “the approved projects benefited 17 producers from the Federal, Villaguay, Paraná, and Nogoyá regions. They focused on tasks related to analysis, management of foreign species, thinning work, and field fencing with the aim of increasing the herbaceous stratum.”

Promoting Sustainable Production

“From the Ministry, we emphasize the ongoing work we have been doing as we see that it yields results, the producers are confirming this, and that gives us encouragement to confirm that it is the right work,” stated Boc-Hó.

On the other hand, the Native Forest Coordinator, Andrea Cislaghi, indicated that resources will continue to be provided to producers to carry out interventions in their forests.

Importance of conserving native forests

The restoration, conservation, and sustainable use of native forests help ensure the health and quality of life of people and the biodiversity that inhabits them.

Forests are providers of essential ecosystem services for life. They help mitigate climate change, regulate freshwater cycles, contribute to food security, and economic development. They harbor over half of terrestrial biodiversity and are ancestral territory of numerous indigenous peoples and farming families.
