The **[Wildlife Foundation Argentina](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)** presented its project for the **[restoration of the Misiones jungle](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)** in **[Brasilia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brasília)**.
This is an initiative that seeks to improve environmental conditions for both **[people and nature](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**.
The Misiones jungle, located in Misiones, is one of the **[most biodiverse regions in the country](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**. However, it has suffered significant deforestation due to agricultural and logging activities.
## The project to restore the Misiones jungle
To protect the existing forested area, the **[Native Forest Management Law](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)** was enacted, establishing areas that cannot be deforested.

The Wildlife Foundation’s restoration project focuses on the **[recovery of degraded areas](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**, the reintroduction of native species, and the promotion of sustainable practices among local communities.
These actions aim not only to restore the ecosystem but also to provide economic and social benefits to the **[populations dependent on the jungle](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**.
## The meeting in Brasilia
As an entity associated with the World Conservation Organization, globally known as **[WWF, the Wildlife Foundation Argentina actively participates](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)** in various spaces of coordination and exchange with colleagues from WWF offices in other Latin American countries and around the world.
One of these spaces is linked to the Transformational Initiative for **[Forest Landscape Restoration](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**, present in most countries in the region.
This initiative aims to improve environmental conditions for both people and nature. On this occasion, those from Misiones spent three days at the WWF-Brazil office in Brasilia, combining work sessions and technical exchanges with the participation of the forests director of the **[Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Brazil](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ministry_of_the_Environment_(Brazil))**.
The presentation in Brasilia allowed sharing the progress and challenges of the project with an international audience, including government representatives, **[non-governmental organizations, and conservation experts](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**.
The importance of regional cooperation in addressing environmental challenges was highlighted, and opportunities for cooperation with similar initiatives in other countries were explored.
## The importance of the Misiones jungle
The Misiones jungle harbors a great **[diversity of flora and fauna](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**, including emblematic species such as the jaguar. It is a significant carbon sink, contributing to **[climate change mitigation](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**.

Additionally, it has cultural and historical value, being home to indigenous communities and a source of inspiration for writers like Horacio Quiroga.
The **[restoration and conservation](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)** of the Misiones jungle are essential to preserve its biodiversity, protect the livelihoods of local communities, and fulfill **[international environmental commitments](https://www.vidasilvestre.org.ar/)**.
