Venado Tuerto promotes nature and environmental care: more recycling, less waste.

Starting in June, Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe, will expand the separate collection of recyclable waste to two days per week: Mondays and Thursdays. This measure reinforces the commitment to environmental care by the municipality and accelerates the definitive closure of the open-air landfill.

The new scheme establishes that on those days, only dry and clean waste will be collected, such as plastics, paper, cardboard, cans, fabrics, and glass. The collection of wet and organic waste will continue on the rest of the days.

The initiative is part of the comprehensive urban solid waste management plan, which has already allowed the recovery of more than 700 tons of recyclables. These materials, instead of going to the landfill, are treated at the municipal plant for reuse.

This advancement not only reduces environmental impact, but also promotes a cleaner, more organized city that is resilient to the challenges of climate change.

A Recycling Model with Inclusion and Environmental Care

At the plant, waste is sorted by type and destined for commercialization or proper disposal. Non-recyclable materials are sent to a sanitary landfill that complies with current regulations.

Source separation has proven to be effective: many families significantly reduce their weekly waste volume, relieving the burden on the system and improving environmental quality.

The program also generates social opportunities. Eleven people who previously worked in precarious conditions in the landfill now have formal employment at the plant, with dignified working conditions.

Furthermore, the municipality will begin the recovery of two hectares of the landfill in June, which will be transformed into clean spaces, leaving behind decades of pollution and exclusion.

Green Works and Sustainable Urbanism

In parallel, Venado Tuerto promotes public works with an urban and environmental focus. Historic tiles are preserved in Plaza San Martín while comprehensive renewal progresses.

The Circunvalación Avenue adds storm drains and pavement, while the new Center for Criminal Justice is already 70% complete. Sewer networks, schools, improvements in parks, and recreational areas are also being carried out.

The plan includes installation of LED lights, works in health centers, and repaving of key streets. All of this is part of a vision of a more habitable, inclusive city aligned with sustainable development goals and environmental care.

Promoting Environmental Care is Protecting the Future

Faced with the advance of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, adopting protective measures is no longer an option but a necessity. Every action that prioritizes environmental care contributes to ensuring clean air, safe water, and fertile soil for future generations.

These measures, such as responsible waste management, ecosystem protection, and efficient resource use, allow for the restoration of ecological balance and the prevention of irreversible impacts on habitats. Additionally, they strengthen communities’ ability to adapt to extreme weather events.

Protecting the environment also involves strengthening local economies, promoting green jobs, and encouraging more sustainable lifestyles. It is a path that connects public health, social justice, and responsible development.

Every political and citizen decision that embraces ecological practices not only defends the present but also builds a fairer, more resilient future in harmony with nature.
