A birthday celebration at a school in the United States turned into an unfortunate event due to something unusual. A teacher caused her students a possible poisoning with dog food.
The teacher, by mistake, offered her students what she thought was beef jerky, but it turned out to be food intended for animals. This incident, which occurred in Mississippi, ended with the woman leaving the school district.

According to reports from FOX News and WTVA, at least eight students consumed portions of the dog treats before the error was discovered. The school nurse acted quickly by contacting Poison Control, and also informed the parents of the students.
Fortunately, only one of the young students experienced stomach pain. But he was taken to the doctor and no further serious consequences were reported.
In this regard, the district superintendent, Lisa Langford, ensured that the quick response of the staff was key to handling the situation. The identity of the teacher involved was disclosed, and it was not revealed whether she resigned or was fired after the incident.
What happens if humans consume dog food?
Although it is not usually lethal, and no cases of such extremity were known, dog food is not intended for human consumption.
According to Health Line, these types of products contain ingredients that, in large quantities, can be harmful to people, such as synthetic vitamins (for example, menadione or vitamin K3) that could be toxic.
Furthermore, dog food is not regulated under the same strict standards as human food. There is a risk of bacterial contamination, with pathogens like Salmonella or Escherichia coli, capable of causing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
