The production of edible mushrooms is gaining ground in the province of Buenos Aires as a sustainable alternative. In this context, the locality of Adrogué, in the Almirante Brown district, was the venue for a meeting that brought together producers, scientists, and institutions with the aim of advancing towards a regulatory framework to promote the activity.
Moreover, the event highlighted the growing interest in this emerging sector. Throughout the day, more than a thousand people participated in the “La Funga, Ostras y Sombreros” Mushroom Festival, consolidating a space for exchange between technical knowledge, local production, and community.
A growing sector seeking legal support and long-term sustainable projection in the province
One of the central themes of the meeting was the need for clear rules. Consequently, it was proposed to advance in legislation that provides predictability to an activity with high economic and environmental potential.
Additionally, during the so-called Producers’ Café, sector representatives debated strategies to strengthen the production chain. Academics, officials, and financial entities participated with the aim of generating concrete tools for its development.
For their part, legislative representatives highlighted the importance of articulating efforts. In this way, the aim is to consolidate a working group that integrates the State, producers, and technical organizations.
