The province of Misiones has established itself as a leader in circular economy policies, thanks to the collaboration between the State, municipalities, and the private sector.
The 2025 Management Report, presented by the Undersecretariat of Circular Economy, reports concrete advances in environmental infrastructure, education, and regulatory framework, reflecting a year of territorial expansion and institutional strengthening.
Undersecretary Fernando Santacruz highlighted that the document represents an exercise in transparency and accountability to society, emphasizing that a large part of the programs were financed with contributions from the private sector. This public-private synergy has been key to sustaining growth in a context of limited public resources.
Advances in infrastructure and education
During 2025, 42 active Ecopoints in 19 municipalities were achieved, consolidating a provincial network that facilitates the reception of recyclable materials and promotes citizen participation. Additionally, 8 new recycling spaces were opened, expanding territorial coverage and bringing the circular economy closer to more communities.
In the educational field, more than 1,300 teachers participated in the My School Recycles program, which seeks to integrate waste management and recycling into school life. This program, accompanied by the company Veolia, has allowed thousands of students to incorporate sustainable practices from an early age.
Regulatory and institutional advances
The report also highlights the enactment of the Provincial Law of Ecopoints and Waste Buyers, which establishes a legal framework to strengthen the recycling chain. Additionally, two strategic projects were presented:
- The Differentiated Collection Law, with a pilot test in the municipality of Cerro Corá, developed together with the company CBSe.
- The Regional Recycling Consortium Law (CReMI), with a pilot experience in Apóstoles, aimed at promoting regional waste management schemes and fostering cooperation between municipalities.
These regulatory advances seek to provide stability and continuity to circular economy policies, ensuring that local initiatives are integrated into a coherent provincial framework.

Private sector participation
The role of companies has been fundamental. In addition to Veolia and CBSe, the opening of new Ecopoints was supported by Arca Continental – Coca-Cola, demonstrating that social and environmental responsibility can translate into concrete actions.
Santacruz announced that the call for companies interested in joining the provincial programs is open again, with the aim of expanding the network of actors committed to the circular economy.
Knowledge and data production
The Undersecretariat prepared three key technical documents:
- Survey of the private sector linked to the circular economy.
- Circular Economy Report of Misiones, developed together with the Faculty of Engineering of UNaM.
- PET Report, aimed at the valorization of recyclable materials.
These studies allow for the design of evidence-based policies and strengthen decision-making.
Circular economy with social impact
The provincial day Despapelizate recovered more than 9,400 kilos of paper and cardboard, allocating $1,500,000 to the Volunteer Firefighters. This action articulated recycling, citizen commitment, and support for key institutions, showing that the circular economy can also be a solidarity means.
The 2025 Management Report reflects how Misiones is moving towards a model of territorial circular economy, integrating production, education, regulation, and solidarity.
The public-private collaboration and data-based approach consolidate a path of sustainable growth, with environmental and social impact throughout the province.
