An emblematic firm from the Andean Region is transforming the commercial sector through the launch of hemp-derived foods and an innovative tourism proposal designed to explore the plantation directly.
Cabaña Micó, a family business founded in 1986 in El Bolsón (Río Negro, Argentine Patagonia), has diversified its activity with the creation of products based on this crop and the organization of guided tours. In a conversation with Pablo Makarczuk, the key figures Mónica and Gustavo Milanich detailed their vision on this new food line and the decision to show their cultivation to the public.
These products use hemp seed as a base, an ancient plant that was legally integrated into the Argentine Food Code in 2022.
Mónica Milanich specified that the project took more than a year of management, highlighting that the focus goes beyond commercial to center on the educational aspect. The goal is for visitors to understand the value of hemp, tour the plantation, and discover its properties.
A gastronomic option
As explained, it is a superfood highly valued by vegans and athletes due to its great contribution of healthy and complete protein.
On the other hand, Gustavo Milanich specified that the development was worked on in collaboration with the Gen Foundation, experts from the Alto Valle de Río Negro.
He emphasized that the sowing began under strict legal authorizations and that, after a complex administrative process, they are close to the harvest stage.
The current product offering consists of chocolates with hemp seeds, cereal bars, granolas, and various baked goods that incorporate the nutritional benefits of the grain.
Additionally, Gustavo indicated that a controlled pollination was implemented to ensure the purity of the crop and prevent hybridizations with other cannabis strains.
Starting in April, Cabaña Micó will open its facilities to offer tours and educational experiences. The itinerary includes the history of the crop and a tasting of the products in their showroom.
With this initiative, the potential of hemp is consolidated as a high-quality resource that generates employment and promotes a cutting-edge diet, nutritional well-being, and educational recreation.
